Carpenters' Hall Address
Carpenters' Hall was an important place for meetings in the early years of the United States. The building is two stories and located in Philadelphia's Old City neighborhood. The building was completed in 1773. It is still owned by the Carpenters' Company of the City and County of Philadelphia. Carpenters' Hall is part of Independence National Historical Park. In 1970, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. From September 5 to October 26, 1774, Carpenters' Hall was used as a meeting place for the First Continental Congress of the United Colonies of North America. This location was chosen because the Pennsylvania State House was already being used by the Provincial Assembly of Pennsylvania. Carpenters' Hall is visited by thousands of tourists each year.
