Winged Victory
The Winged Victory of Samothrace, also called Nike of Samothrace, is a marble sculpture of the Greek goddess
Nike (Victory), discovered in April 1863 on the island of Samothrace. It has been in the Louvre Museum since 1884.
The Winged Victory (almost 11 feet tall) is located at the head of the sweeping Daru staircase and is one of the most famous pieces of art in the Louvre Museum. |
