Mona Lisa Painting
Mona Lisa, or La Gioconda (La Joconde), is a 16th century oil painting by Leonardo Da Vinci. The Mona Lisa painting is the most popular artwork at the Louvre Museum. The painting, a half-length portrait, depicts a woman whose gaze meets the viewer's with an expression often described as enigmatic. Ever since the work was painted in 1504 by Leonardo da Vinci, kings and artists, historians and tourists, poets and thieves have projected their fantasies onto the supposed portrait of Madonna Elisabetta Gherardini, wife of Francesco del Giocondo. |
