Decatur House in Washington DC, built in 1818, overlooks Lafayette Square and is one block north of White House.

It was built by Stephen Decatur, who was a celebrity from his military victories in the Barbary Wars and War of 1812.

You can tour eight furnished period rooms of this impressive mansion and its gardens.
