La Brea Tar Pits Address

The La Brea Tar Pits has a recreation of a Mastodon being trapped in the tar.

The Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits has a fossil collection of ice age animals, which were trapped in the tar. The tar pits are a few inched below the water of what looks like a small pond.

While viewing the tar pits you will see large bubbles erupting on the surface. This is caused by gas leaking from the tar.
